Climate Conversations - Schools Debate

The 2025 Climate Conversation has now been launched, in partnership with Rochdale's Children's University. Aimed at children and young people in years 5 and 8.

Schools or youth groups can join the conversation and help build their research skills, mathematics, literacy skills, critical thinking skills and oracy skills too.

The Climate Conversation project is for Year 5 and Year 8 age groups and the pack consists of two lessons (including lesson plan notes) and an invitation to join other schools at the annual Climate Conversation debate at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 28 March 2025 / Friday 25 April for Year 8 .

This is a great opportunity for young people to share their views on climate change and what they want for their future in Rochdale Borough.

Timeline: January - July 2025
Monday 6 January – Launch of Climate Conversations resources
Friday 14 March – Deadline for submitting climate action ideas
Friday 28 March - Climate Conversations debate at Rochdale Town Hall with Year 5 pupils
Friday 25 April - Climate Conversations debate at Rochdale Town Hall with Year 8 pupils
July – pupils will be invited to present their climate action idea at a council meeting
