The Ofsted School Inspection Handbook, April 2024 (from paragraph 323) illustrates the importance of schools providing opportunities which are wider than the academic, vocational and technical curriculum. There will be a judgement based on a school’s intent to provide personal development for its pupils. Schools have a plethora of internal enrichment and REACH will complement this and showcase personal development activities to access outside of the school day and at weekends.
We know that schools are crucial in preparing pupils for their adult lives, teaching them to understand how to engage with society and providing them with the opportunities.
For school staff, REACH is Rochdale’s centralised hub which showcases the local enrichment offer, activities and programmes available across the Borough, enabling pupils to develop and enhance their social development. It is where school staff can explore and develop their knowledge and expertise of what’s available to support students in identifying activities which would be good for them to engage with. School staff know their pupils well and every pupil will want a different outcome from their enrichment activity, whether this is meeting other pupils, including those from different religious, cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, volunteering in the community, playing a sport or a musical instrument or being part of a uniformed group, as examples.
We want to ensure REACH can benefit all school staff through CPD opportunities and we will link useful event information on the Hub.
Any feedback from Enrichment leads and school staff is welcomed using the “Contact Us” details at the bottom of the page.
