Teams of 8-12 student Ambassadors are appointed from each participating school. They attend a series of 6 sessions delivered by a YTA coordinator and 3 “school-led” sessions delivered by a supporting staff member from their school. The sessions aim to increase student knowledge of the benefits of active travel, the barriers and issues people may face in travelling this way, as well as understanding what a behaviour change campaign is.
The Ambassadors are given the opportunity to gather data on transport issues and barriers affecting their school. They then use this data to devise and implement their own behaviour change campaigns, targeting their peers. Funding to deliver their campaigns is secured at an interschool “Dragon’s Den” style pitch event, where a panel of judges will award the grants of up to £500.
At the end of the programme, all participating schools will come together again to celebrate their achievements at the Celebration Event.
