Library Service - Join the Library

You can join any library in person or online.  There is no minimum age for joining but if you are under the age of 14, we will ask your parent/carer for permission for you to be a member.

In person: just visit one of our libraries with proof of your name and current address.

Online: this will only take you a few minutes to do.  You can pick your library card up from any library across Heywood, Littleborough,                                                                           Middleton or Rochdale.

Our conditions of membership

• To borrow items you must present your library membership card.
• You may borrow up to twelve items on your card. These can be borrowed from and returned to any branch of the Rochdale Library Service.
• Any item may be renewed up to ten times unless it has been reserved by another borrower.
• Items may be returned to any Rochdale Borough Library.
• Overdue fines are charged for the late return of items by adult members.
• Membership is suspended if you have overdue items and outstanding charges.
• Items in stock or on order in any Rochdale Borough Library can be reserved free of charge.
• You will be asked to pay for any lost or damaged books. Charges for damaged children's books may be waived.
• If you change your address or name please notify us immediately.
• Please report lost cards to the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.
• Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
